Achieve our Goal

In the real society requires an individual to make and take personal responsibility in order to fulfill one's ambitions or dreams.

It is a tough society out there and not many people are fortunate to be born with a silver spoon in his/her mouth. One can certainly help to make a difference to society through industrious effort and participating with society.

No doubt one may encounter obstacles along the way, treat it as part of survival and finding ways to overcome it. Take destiny into our own hands and change it for the better for those whom have not been trying hard enough in the past. Get up and try and try again until one is finally able to reach the finishing line. If one decides to give up trying, then one will not be able to reach the final goal.

Acknowledge the wrong-doing

It is easy to do wrong things, but acknowledging the wrong-doing is not easy.

Normally, people point at others when faults arise, since admitting the wrong-doings are rare. If people acknowledge their faults and change for the better, then this world will become a better place in which to live.

Ask and Understand

If one does not understand, then ask!

"ASKING" will result in "UNDERSTANDING".

Literally translates the above Chinese proverb is:-

Big question, Big understanding!
Small question, small understanding!
No question, no understanding!

Base-line

Everyday a monk carried two buckets of water up a mountain where his temple is located.

One day, a man said to the monk:

"Let me carry your water today, you just stay in the temple!"

The man went down the hill and filled the water nearly to the Brim, then walked step by step up the hill. The buckets were so heavy that he fell on the steps and hurt his knees, without mentioning the amount of water he spilled along his path.

By the time he reached the temple with almost empty buckets containing only a fifth of water needed to fill the bowl he said to the Monk:

"This is really a hard job, by the way, I realize there is a line marked at the side of the buckets, what is this for?"

The Monk said:

"When I started to carry water, I had a line marked at the side of the bucket to remind me to fill water to that point. Thus the water I fetch everyday will be enough for me for the day, and I can carry such quantity up to the temple. Day by day, I can feel the weight without checking the mark, and slowly increase the quantity of water I carry.

Young man, you should use this practice to apply to your daily life."

Moral of the story

If our base line is too high to start with, it will be very hard to reach to. Why not set our line to suit our ability, once we reach our mark, we can slowly increase our level. In other words, running up the hill will hurt quite hard if we fall, but going step-by-step up to the hill will be just nice.

There is no short cut for any job or learning; one must start to learn from basic, step by step, treat failure as just a lesson to succeed; slowly, and we will reach our target.

Bitter life

(a) Chasing after something badly which is beyond one’s capability or due to greed, will lead to a bitter life.

For example, if one already has lots of money, but is still craving for more, that is really a bitter, distressing and sorrowful state of life.

(b) Getting rid of bitter life is bitter too; such as having to readjust our life style.

If one chooses (a), one will always experience sorrow and bitterness, but if one chooses (b), then the misery will slowly and gradually reduce; only then one’s future life will become less bitter.

Broad-mindedness

Broad-mindedness helps to tolerate others bad behavior, that requires no bad wording or blaming, just silence.

Cause and Effect

Cause - Plant tomatoes from seed
Effect - Will have tomatoes to eat few months later

Cause - Excessive smoking and drinking
Effect - Damage to lungs, liver & health

Cause - Eating unhealthy food
Effect - Sickness

Cause - Hard work
Effect - Better return

Cause - Committing a crime
Effect - Expecting punishment

One creates all the causes; effects can be either good or bad.

Changeable

Nothing last forever - because everything is changeable.

Character and Attitude

One's character and attitude are the tell tale signs of one's capability towards life.

The way of one's talking can show their inner-manner and their knowledge.

Charitable deeds

When doing charitable deeds, do not think of self-aggrandizement but do them with all your sincere heart and for the benefits of others without intend.

Donation -- When donating to a Charity, forget the "To" and "From" as well as the amount donated, that is real Charity.

Contentment

Contentment will definitely bring happiness.

Control our heart

Do not let one's heart be influenced by the outside environment. Say, you just want to go out to buy 6 apples, but due to the price of other items being so attractive that the "Come and get me" temptation could not be resisted. SO, the heart changed by the environment.

Let your heart control the environment, that means no matter how good the environment outside is, just follow your heart at all time.

Courage and hard-work

Need courage to overcome difficulty, finalizing any project requires diligence and hard work.

Desire

The higher the expectation, the greater the disappointment.

Detachment

Less attachment will gain valuable time towards cultivation to one's mind, why not!

Do good-deeds without intent

If one always has benefited and helping others without intent, then one will receive benefit or help from others when one is needed without request.

Equality

A big argument broke out between:

Eyebrows, eyes, nose and mouth.

The eyes said:

"Hey! Guys, why I am always positioned below the eyebrows since I am the most important organ amongst you all, I should be placed at the top of the eyebrows, without me, you cannot see your way! How great am I?"

The nose said:

"Oh no!
I tell you what, without me, you cannot smell or breathe. I am sure I should be at the top."

The mouth said:

"It must be the biggest joke that I ever heard, ha, ha! If I close my mouth, you will be hungry and die in no time. So, I should be at the top."

The eyebrows said:

"Oh! I am so sorry my friends, I only can stop a few drops of rain or water to fall from the forehead, since I am the most useless amongst the group, I should move straight to the bottom of the face."

After the eyes exchanged places with the eyebrows. They checked in the mirror.

Oh! Oh! What is this, it does not look like a face anymore. Well! Let's change again and see what happens. Still there was no joy. At the end, they all changed back to their original position.

Then they all agreed:

"Ah! This is much better. Why did we have to argue?"

Moral of the story

No matter how insignificant any being is, they are still important and useful in their own way, and no one is superior.

Everybody has their own specific way and talent; for sure nobody can live on this earth alone. If there are no dustmen, rubbish will be everywhere; without farmers there will be no food for people to eat, if there is no soil, trees cannot grow etc.

In this world, everybody compliments each other in their special way, everybody is important; we should work together to create a peaceful world.

Ever lasting Banquet

There is no ever-lasting banquet, it is better to treasure and appreciate every moment when having reunions with family or gatherings with friends. Just be happy!

Example

One day, a woman said to her husband:

"Regardless of how hot the food is, you always eat too fast, so what is the rush?"

Husband replies:

"My great-great grandfather, grandfather and even my father always ate in this manner, I'm sure, this is the right way to do!"

Moral of the story

Children always learn what others do and from other's behavior, they do not know whether it is right or not. A good example must be set in order to guide them to adopt better manners.

Famous and Wealth

No matter how famous you become, at the end of the lifetime, it will seem like a dream.

Having mega amounts of money, still cannot escape the two words:

"Nothing forever".

Forgive

To forgive is better to tolerate.

Foundation

A rich old man visited the West-village one day, he realized a new three-floor building proudly standing by the river.

A rich man said:

"Oh! How grand it looked"!

When he returned to his East-village, he summoned his builder about this matter.

He said:

"I am richer than that man in the West-village, I am sure I can afford to build a building like that in my village, and this must be bigger and grander than his, please build one for me as soon as possible".

A month later, he visited the site and said to the builder:

"How come you are still building the ground floor, I am telling you, I do not think that I have time to go to ground floor nor second floor, the top floor is the one I will spend time in. Just building the top floor will do".

The builder looked at the rich man with contempt, thinking he must be insane.

Moral of the story

A solid foundation is the important part of the building, without it, the building will collapse. This is just like our life; we need a solid base of knowledge, before we can progress to higher level in all walks of life.

Short-cut or fast result is what the people would like to have when doing any project or work, but without a good foundation, it cannot survive a major impact.

Four Seasons

Spring, summer, autumn and winter, which is the best season?

Actually, no worry is the best season amongst the seasons.

Frog in the well

Imagine the limited size of the sky that the frog lives in the well can see.

Why not jump out and see the bigger sky?

In another word:

More learning and traveling will definitely help to open our mind and eyes.
